If you haven’t had a chance to visit the SSM Public Library website, I encourage you to do so – www.ssmpl.ca - once at the site, you can then go into something specific and view the calendar of events (top rite). There’s lots going on for all age groups!

Becauseiamagirl.ca’ website, there’s some good stuff on there. And, ‘Girls Can Do Anything’ online magazine, another fun stop.
Parents, contact with a Big Sister should only be occurring when the Big Sister is calling your family home or an emergency. No pre-calling regarding an outing or an upcoming group event and certainly, no contact at the Big Sister’s workplace. A Big Sister will be contacting your daughter and questions and plans can be addressed then. Failure to observe these rules can result in the Match breaking down.
Don’t forget. It’s Low Cost to No Cost Activities.
Treats and Special Outings are the exception, not the rule.See below for some ideas:
- Rollerskating
- Tarentorus Sports Club, $5., 942-9284
- Swimming at the John Rhodes or YMCA freeswims (includes non-members)- Hiking some of our local footpaths, followed with (see next suggestion)
- Collecting leaves etc., plasticize (purchase a can of clear acrylic spray paint at any hardware or paint store, spray on, let dry & presto) and make greeting cards
- Visit Sault College
- Visit Algoma University
- Attend a Council Meeting- Pasta fundraising dinners around town (Check Sault This Week, Community Events)
- SSM Public Library
- check their website for upcoming events, www.ssmpl.ca
- Visit Farmer Bobs (petting zoo, corn maze, wildflower trail); $10.Adults, $8.Children
- Do a Science experiment &/or, start a seedling, transplant, harvest and can or pickle
- Visit a country on the computer, discover it, cook a meal that corresponds to that country
- Bake some cookies or make some fudge for our local Hospice, decorate the box that you bring it in and bring it together
- Do a critique of a restaurant you visit or a movie you see, send it in to us for our website
- And for our Fashionistas, design your own clothing with cutouts and scrap booking pages or fabric scraps or, old catalogues and magazines.
